For your blog entertainment, here is a transcript of last night's dinner conversation. Enjoy!
Abigail - "Wow, Mom, this is such a good dinner!"
Me - "Well, good. I'm glad you like it."
A - "I mean, I love broccoli. And this fruit salad is good too! So, what's this other stuff? It's yummy."
Me - "You know, I've never made it for ya'll. I worked extra hard on it, but really didn't think you'd like it."
A - "Well, what do you call it?" (with a mouthful)
Me - "It's a funny name. Are you ready for it?"
A - "Yes!"
Me - "Hamburger Helper."
You know, this just figures. When I slave over a big meal, with complicated, from scratch ingredients, the family eats it, but it's usually not received any better than something that came from a box. ha!
Growing up, I often said "I wished I had a corner," meaning I wanted a little hideaway where I could get alone and just BE. It got to be kind of a joke in the family, but they understood what I meant - a spot just for me; to read, journal, garden, enjoy music, meditate on life, or pray. The "corner" I longed for wasn't even an actual place, but more, the opportunity to do those things I love. So, welcome and see what is going on in our family's corner!

Doesn't it just always happen that way. I guess we should be glad they ever like it and they should be glad that we keep cooking in the face of such insurmountable odds!
I miss you, I hope we get some face time soon.
I'm all about quick and easy and guaranteed to please! I'm impressed you serve brocoli!
LOVE THIS BLOG. We have similar conversations like this quite often. woo hoo for the helper of the hamburger!
