Well, this has taken days to post, but here's a fun photo recap of the weekend spent with my parents at their home in Decatur. We had a fun day exploring in Huntsville on Saturday, so most of these photos are from those outings to the botanical gardens, an old train museum and depot and the Harmony Park Animal Safari. The other main pictures are of a renegade stuffed lamb (Lambert) that has been up to some mischevious antics lately. For those of you who don't know, my Mom loves sheep, and has some cute non-living versions around the house. My Dad, as most of you do know, has a thing about playing little jokes and being silly. He swears he has nothing to do with it, but this little Lambert has been hidden most mornings when Mom gets up and walks through the living room. He's not on his usual perch on the couch, and she has found him hanging from the ceiling on a light fixture, peering from the top bannister of the staircase, and in other interesting locations. While we were visiting, Abigail took it upon herself to warn Dad to "not mess with Gramma's lamb anymore." Dad promised he wouldn't, even if he had in the past, which he hadn't, but he couldn't be held responsible if Lambert disobeyed. Well, we awoke Saturday to see the wooly guy still sitting where Abi told him to, but it did appear that he'd been out joyriding the night before. Oh, it was so funny to see her face as she looked in astonishment at Granddaddy, who kept a straight face the entire time! I love this kind of fun family memory!
Another highlight was the fishing the kids did with James on Friday morning. They all caught several in the lake behind Mom and Dad's house. Abi caught 2 "breams" as she says, and Isaac caught a bass and a huge catfish, but lost the catfish as he tried to reel it in. They were so proud though!
Then, Sat. afternoon, when we went through a drive-through safari adventure, we had lots of fun too. We went mainly because I found out about one particular animal they had in their collection. Abigail has a love for zebras and has begged us to get one. Silly James actually has priced them on the internet, and they're not cheap, and they're not usually nice, if you're wondering. Anyway, we were able to get up close and personal with this zebra, as it kept his head in our van window and was so sweet to let us pet him numerous times! It made Abi's day!
Growing up, I often said "I wished I had a corner," meaning I wanted a little hideaway where I could get alone and just BE. It got to be kind of a joke in the family, but they understood what I meant - a spot just for me; to read, journal, garden, enjoy music, meditate on life, or pray. The "corner" I longed for wasn't even an actual place, but more, the opportunity to do those things I love. So, welcome and see what is going on in our family's corner!

My sister in law works at the HBG. She loves it and is always talking about how pretty it is. We are going to have to take a trip up there.
Fun story about Lambert- I agree that those are the best kind of memories.
