He's my handyman

Wow. I don't know if anyone has noticed, but it's a bit warm outside. Actually, today it was exceptionally warm INside, since our a/c was out for the 2nd time in barely a week. I respect all those hard-working folks who repair air conditioners, and we've been extremely grateful for their help in the past. However, today I have to brag on my husband's wonderful ability to repair anything.

After the initial panic set in as I realized the air was not working correctly, I tried to wake him calmly, since he was heading in to work a double shift tonight. After a few minutes of checking and calling our brother-in-law who has done heating and air for years, he thought the compressor was out. We called the folks who installed the unit, and repaired it mere 9 days ago. James headed to work, and we stayed here to sweat, waiting on the guy to come. He was actually here pretty soon, and said he remembered us since he delivered the part last Sunday to the other tech who fixed the capacitor. (He probably was remembering that a hot, crazy, pregnant lady in our neighborhood was involved, and for everyone's sake, must've rushed here.) He quickly determined the problem, offered to fix it, and so I called James at work to let him hear the details. They talked and then James told me he'd leave work and be home to fix it.

I admit, I first rolled my eyes, thinking, "Why can't we just let the expert do his job and write the check?" Thankfully, I didn't say that, and the guy was so nice and didn't seem bothered at all by being dismissed. I still wrote a service call check, but it wasn't awful. James called back, explained what he was doing and got the part, came home, and fixed the thing in less than an hour. I am so impressed, and thankful. Pardon the cheesiness---

Temperature outside at 1 pm: 104/Temperature inside my house at 1 pm: 90+
Current Temp inside: 79 :-)
Service call: $79
Recommended repair job: $252
James' repair job: $8.37
Having a handyman for a husband: Priceless
