Happy Thanksgiving!

What a wonderful day to really focus on why I'm thankful. A list is nearly impossible to start, because there are a million things that rush to my mind. To say that this year, God has given us much to be grateful for, would be an understatement. We're given much every year, and this year just feel overwhelmed at His goodness and the multiple blessings He's poured out on us.

I've had a reflective few days for various reasons. Of course, the upcoming holiday naturally caused me to just think a lot about what I'm thankful for, but there were many other things running through my head: receiving more good news about this pregnancy and the answer to prayer Monday's check-up was; realizing how sweet and precious my extended family is; being thankful my family is all healthy; pondering the fact that a young mom (the sister-in-law of a dear friend) is facing her last days on earth after fighting multiple cancers for years; knowing deep gratitude that God has made a way for me to know Him and have relationship with Him; valuing the bond between fellow believers and sisters and brothers in the faith that is growing deeper; appreciating a husband that works so hard to provide for our family and who loves me as unconditionally as is humanly possible; having children who are affectionate and healthy and imperfect, but tender-hearted and watching our examples daily....whew. I've almost been overcome, in a good way, with the knowledge at how good my life is and all that's going on in it. I hope you're able to focus on those things today that God has done that are awesome and wonderful, and that the sad and yucky stuff pales in comparison.

This hymn is one of my favorites ever. Its message is so true. Hope it blesses you today with a reminder of His faithfulness, the best reason to ever be thankful.

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
