blessing His name

Since in my family, we seem to have a song for everything, it's only fitting that at the beginning of February, as I look back on the past year, I have to add the lyrics to a song that meant so much to us. The words are simple and very powerful - especially that we can CHOOSE to praise Him, when things are going great, and even when they are difficult. He's still worthy, regardless. I've had to force the words from my heart sometimes, because it's hard to be thankful in all circumstances, but God is faithfully teaching me. Thanks to my Dad for bringing this song to my attention at a time when I needed it so much.

Blessed be Your Name
Matt Redman

Blessed be your name
In the land that is plentiful
Where the streams of abundance flow
Blessed be your name

Blessed be your name
When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed be your name

Every blessing you pour out,
I turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say...

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be your glorious name

Blessed be your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's all as it should be
Blessed be your name

Blessed be your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be your name

Every blessing you pour out,
I turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say...

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be your glorious name

You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, Blessed be your name

This is such an incredible song. Yesterday J93 in Atlanta had the top 20 worship songs. Matt Redmond had several on the list.

We sing this at church often. It is one of our favorites.

My brother and his wife sang this at their wedding last summer. It was the coolest thing. They said they know there will be great times and tough times but from the start of their marriage, they want to committ to praising Him! I love it!! and Love you too! Thanks for sharing what God is teaching you.

You already know what this song means to me. Every time I hear it or read the words, my heart smiles, even through the tears. When I choose to praise Him, He reveals Himself in such beautiful ways. The storms don't go away, but my focus shifts from the storm to the One who can calm me in the middle of it.

Welcome!
